Walk this sandy stretch of beach crowned by iconic Haystack Rock and you’ll easily see why it was called one of the 100 Most Beautiful Places in the World by National Geographic. The city has art galleries, shopping boutiques, fine restaurants, hotels all within walking distance to each other and the beach. Cannon Beach is known for Haystack Rock, which is home to colorful tidepools and variety of birds. It is approachable and easy to get to when tides are low. It also homes Ecola State Park, which offers several miles of hiking trails, picnic areas and great vantage points for bird and whale watchers. Look for herds of Roosevelt Elk grazing in meadows and Bald Eagles flying overhead.
